A 43 year-old Suspected gunrunner, Fridday Emmanuel, has been arrested by the Police at River Niger head bridge, Asaba Delta State.
The Suspect was arrested on May 16, 2024 at about 0945hrs, by operatives of Safe Delta deployed to the Head-Bridge.
The Police spokeman, Bright Edafe said that the Police were on stop and search duty, when they intercepted a white Toyota Hiace Bus with the REG. NO: AYB573XC, which was driven by Friday Emmanuel, a old male suspect from Morsogar, Ethiope-West LGA, Delta State.
“Upon subjecting the said vehicle to search, 875 rounds of Live Cartridges concealed in a sack wrapped with pieces of clothes were recovered.
“The suspect was arrested for further investigation, and the exhibit was impounded. Investigation is ongoing”, he said.
Edafe also confirmed that a special squad deployed by the commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi to Ughelli axis of the State arrested a the leader of the dreaded kidnapping syndicate known as Joel Joseph
Ughelli North LGA has been embarking on an intelligence-led policing strategy that has been paying off leading to the arrest of over nine suspected kidnappers and recovery of firearms.
He said the efforts of the Police team recorded another major achievement in May 16, when they stormed Inene Community in Ughellli North council to trail the leader of the dreaded kidnapper, who is a native of Ekakpamre Community in Ughelli North LGA Delta State.
“One AK47 Rifle loaded with ten (10) rounds of Live Ammunition was recovered from him. Efforts are being intensified to arrest other gang members as contained in the intel”,
