DELTA LGA : PARTIES GEAR UP FOR ELECTION
BY JAMES IGBINOSA
As Delta State gear up for local government elections, the two major opposition parties, All Progressive Congress (APC) and Labour party (LP) say it fully prepared to dislodge the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) in both chairmen and councilors seats, to change the narrative.
State chairman of APC, Omeni Sobotie and LP South South Vice chairman, Tony Ezeag said they are deeply involved and prepared ground to feed candidates for both chairmen and councilors seats, in the council’s elections expected to hold on July 13, 2024.
Sobotie said APC is ready for the election, and “when the time comes you will see us swing into action. Though we are not worry about the delay, we knew from the beginning that is what PDP is going to do”.
For Tony Ezeagwu, “We are prepared for the local government elections even though they may try to manipulate the whole process”.
According to him, “PDP has been conducting council’s elections but they don’t allow any other Political Parties to win any seat, hence we are calling on INEC to conduct council election because every State conduct elections and win everywhere. But, this time it will not happen again”.
He however assured of reporting any electoral fraud to the Police, DSS and other stakeholders, saying “we are not going to take it anymore in Delta State”.
“We will make sure the materials are ready for the election, then, conduct it in a free and fair manner in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevweri’s directive while inaugurating Delta State Independent Electoral commission
DSIEC, that there would be free, fair, transparent and creditable elections that will generally reflect the will of the people”, he said.
